Energy Vault and NV Energy Launch Nevada's Massive 220MW Reid Gardner Energy Storage System (BESS)

Energy Vault Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: NRGV), a pioneer in the field of sustainable energy storage solutions, and NV Energy, the leading public utility provider in Nevada, recently revealed the functional commencement of the Reid Gardner Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)—an eco-friendly venture sited at Moapa, Nevada.

Constructed on the grounds of an erstwhile coal-fired power generation unit, this 220MW/440MWh grid-integrated BESS is regarded as one of Nevada's most expansive. The two-hour energy storage apparatus is specifically engineered to collect and distribute surplus renewable energy, embracing wind and solar power. BESS operates on a daily rotation basis, relaying stored renewable energy during peak usage hours to accommodate Nevada's elevated load durations. NV Energy has maximized the operational capacity of the system, deploying Energy Vault’s cohesive platform and Vault-OS energy management blueprint.

Marco Terruzzin, the Chief Commercial & Product Officer at Energy Vault, marked the successful on-time and within-budget completion of the Reid Gardner BESS project. According to him, this timely accomplishment is a tribute to Energy Vault's pledge to efficiently deliver intricate, high-performing energy storage systems to esteemed clients like NV Energy. Terruzzin expressed gratitude towards NV Energy for their robust collaboration throughout the procedure, from the inception of planning to the operational kickoff.
