AMPYR Energy USA Broadens Its Solar and Battery Storage Portfolio

AMPYR Energy USA has announced the acquisition of over 210 peak megawatts (MWp) of utility-scale solar power projects in North and South Carolina. This strategic move, involving two significant projects, will bolster AMPYR Energy USA's presence in the southeastern U.S. and contribute to the expansion of the company's existing pipeline, which already exceeds 4 gigawatts (GW) of carbon-free energy.

Strategic Growth in the Southeast

Steve Semlitz, Chairman of AMPYR Energy USA, emphasized the importance of this acquisition in the company's broader strategy. "This acquisition marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to expand our solar and battery storage operations in the U.S.," Semlitz said. "Since our inception just two years ago, we've experienced rapid growth and are excited to continue playing a pivotal role in driving the transition to sustainable energy and accelerating the shift to a carbon-neutral future. We aim to achieve this through our diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects and future acquisitions."

The two projects acquired are in the advanced stages of development. AMPYR Energy USA plans to finalize long-term offtake agreements with utility, commercial, or industrial customers by 2024. The development and execution of these projects will be managed by AMPYR Energy's in-house development and technical teams.

Expanding Renewable Energy Development

Sumeet Bidani, Chief Development Officer of AMPYR Energy USA, highlighted the broader impact of this acquisition. "This purchase allows us to further strengthen our greenfield development efforts in the Southeast, building a regionally diverse and scalable portfolio of renewable energy assets," Bidani explained. "Our growth strategies across the U.S. are focused on creating a balanced project portfolio in both regulated (ISO) and unregulated markets. We plan to capitalize on the growing demand for renewable energy, positioning ourselves as a key player in the industry."
